Samsung Galaxy S11+ with 100X Space Zoom

The forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S11 + smartphone might just sport the smartphone's best camera setup to date, if the rumors are true.

A new series of premium smartphones is expected to be released by Korean tech giant Samsung early next year. The devices, which are all under the Galaxy S11 line, are expected to have better specs than their predecessors.

One of these handsets, the top-of-line Galaxy S11+, is expected to feature the best smartphone camera setup that the tech company currently plans to release. Previous reports revealed that there is a rear camera module in the new handset that will house up to five cameras, each unique and designed to do something different from the other.

Bloomberg reported previously that a 5x optical zoom system will be one of those cameras. A new leak from Ice Universe's famous tipster confirms that this is a periscope device with a package small enough to fit into a smartphone.

This information might not sound so farfetched. Phone Arena reported that earlier this year, the Korean tech giant acquired Corephotonics, an Israeli company that worked with Chinese smartphone company Oppo to create the periscope system it used on its 10x lossless zoom system. Samsung's acquisition might've provided it with the knowledge it needed to create the new periscope camera.

If the Bloomberg study and Ice Universe leak prove to be true, Samsung can achieve a very clear advantage over other U.S. smartphone manufacturers and retailers as most devices with such a camera feature are only accessible outside of America.

What's more, the new 5x periscope zoom camera from the Galaxy S11 +, combined with the 108MP ISOCELL camera from Samsung and the rumored 2x optical zoom telephoto lens that comes with the device, will allow users to enjoy a feature that could be marketed as "Space Zoom," noted Phone Arena. Using all the rear cameras this functionality results in "50x hybridzoom and 100x digital zoom."
